【Shopify Winter Editions '25】The Best 11 Updates!

Shopify updates almost every day, but this announcement summarizes the important feature updates and the latest features. Site Improvement

Checkout Blocking App

Previously, it was only available to Shopify Plus stores, but with Editions, it is now available on all plans.

As shown in the image above, you can add custom blocks to the pages after checkout (purchase thank you page and order status page). If you want to add them, you can do so by installing and setting up a free app. It seems that the app existed before the latest editions, but it didn't have many features, so it has been updated to make it easier to use.

For example, you can set up a button that will take customers to another platform (Instagram, Facebook, X, etc.) after they make a purchase. This allows you to include customers who purchase your products in a private community on Facebook that is exclusive to your store.

You can also set banner images, accordions, dividers, buttons, and more, so give it a try. Try customizing your purchase thank you page and order status page!

Add a chat app to your thank you page

Merchants on the Shopify Plus or Enterprise plan can now add the chat app to their thank you pages, and Plus plan merchants can also add it to their checkout screen.

This is a very convenient feature for customers, as it allows them to easily answer questions about their order after purchase (in Plus, questions would pop up just before purchase), such as the shipping schedule or whether returns are possible, without having to go to the site's FAQ or usage guide.

My Page app function added

You can now add extensions to your member account's My Page. This is a page that is not very customizable, but with this update, you can now modify your My Page.

For example, if you have an app like Judgeme installed, you can write a review from your order page.

You can list recommended products on your profile page.

You can also set dynamic content for the Checkout Blocks mentioned earlier.

 

Site Management

Subscriptions

Shopify Subscriptions (Shopify's official subscription app) now allows you to offer discounts such as "Buy X, get Y". Many of our clients use external apps for subscriptions, but this app is also being updated little by little. It's free, so it's recommended for those who are just starting out in e-commerce and want to introduce subscriptions!

In this edition We've added a "Buy X, Get Y" discount setting, and you can now set up subscriptions directly on the product management page instead of in the app!

Search & Discovery (Filter Search)

Search & Discovery is updated with each Edition. This is an app that we often use for filtering and searching. This update is minor, but I think it will be effective for customer experience.

Before the update, customers could When searching for a product, all related products including variations were displayed. With this update, you can choose whether to display parent or child products in search results (and product recommendations), which should increase conversions.

You can now also sort on the category meta field of a filter. For example, if your filter values ​​are "2 years", "6 months", "3 years", and "2 months", you will automatically:

The app will sort the It's done automatically. So even if you add a new filter category, you don't have to adjust the filters in Search & Discovery every time, the app will handle it for you, which should make things a little easier! (*Manual sorting is also possible, of course.)

Shopify Bundles

I'm sure many of you use this app, but there was a minor update to the notification email and order details page. The notification email sent when you ordered a bundle used to show the items in the bundle separately:

Shopify POS

Shopify POS has also had various updates. This time, the main update was to the design of the POS screen.

Added product thumbnails, updated button design, and the option to select multiple receipt types.
Additionally, your cart now appears next to search results on the home screen, making it easy to add items to your cart with just one tap.
In terms of functionality, touch payments were previously only possible on iPhones, but now they're also possible on Android!

Shop App Updates

On the operational side, your customers can now process returns and exchanges directly from the Orders page in the Shop app!

Also, in terms of customer experience, the search and collection filters you set in the online store can now be viewed in the Shop app, making browsing products even easier!

Automation, Increased Sales

Shopify Flow

As some of you may know, Shopify Flow is triggered by actions on an e-commerce site. This is a tool that runs the automated workflows you set up with Shopify Flow.

I'm sure there are many people who already use Flow, and with this update, various triggers have been added, making it even easier to use.

  • Marketing Triggers: Shopify Flow workflows can now be triggered by the creation of new meta object entries. For example, you can set up a flow where a customer fills out a form on your site, and your store sends them a thank you email after they submit.
  • Return Triggers: We've added triggers for various returns, including return approved, cancelled, completed, and requested.
  • Segment triggers: You can now trigger when a customer joins or leaves a segment that you've set up in your store.

If you haven't tried Shopify Flow yet, you should give it a try, as it allows you to create a variety of useful automated flows that will save you time!

Financial status update

You can now easily view your financial situation all in one place from your Shopify admin or the Shopify app (mobile).
