How to register to sell on Amazon.com (US Amazon)

Amazon America (Amazon.com, US Amazon) is a cross-border e-commerce site that is easy for individuals, small and medium-sized businesses to large companies to enter, and many people are considering selling on the site.
This time, we will show you how to create an Amazon.com account from an Amazon Japan (Amazon.co.jp) selling account.

How to register on Amazon.com

Information required for account registration

  1. Company name and full name of representative (or person in charge)
  2. Store name, address, phone number (landline or mobile)
  3. Credit card information
  4. Overseas bank account (deposit account)

    As of June 2018, we recommend Payoneer.

Register for Global Selling through Amazon.co.jp (Seller Central)

■Seller Central > Inventory > Click Global Selling



■Select North America and click "Register Now".



Register your account in 5 steps

STEP1

    • Seller agreement

      ・Legal name
      For corporations: Company name - full name For individuals: full name *Please note that this cannot be changed.

STEP2

    • Seller Information Registration

      ・Address
      Enter the address in English. *Please note that when entering the address in English, the street number comes first.

      ・Choose your unique business Display Name
      This will be the shop name.

      ・If you sell your products online, enter your website URL(option)
      Whether or not you have an original website. If you don't have one, you can leave this blank.

      ・Select an option to receive a PIN to verify your phone number
      Choose how you would like to enter the verification code: via phone call or SMS.
      *For phone calls, select "call me now"; for SMS, select "Text me now".

STEP3

    • Registering bank account and credit card information (Billing/Deposit)

      ・Set up your billing method
      Enter your credit or debit card details. As long as your card is internationally accepted, it doesn't matter where it was issued.

      ・Set up your deposit method
      Enter the bank account you want to deposit to.

      Note: The bank account to deposit funds into must be an overseas account.
      There are several ways to open an overseas account, but currently we recommend "Payoneer".
      The key points are that costs are lower than other services, such as: ・Sales receipt fee: Free ・Annual fee: Free ・Withdrawal fee: Free ・Deposit to domestic bank in as little as one business day

STEP4

    • Registering Tax Information (Billing/Deposit)

      ・Start tax interview
      Click to proceed to the next item.

      ・Launch Interview Wizard
      Click to proceed to the next item.

      ・For UStax purposes, are you a US person?
      If you don't live in the United States, select No.

      ・ Type of beneficial owner
      Individual/Corporation

      ・Place of organization
      If your location is Japan:

      ・Organization name
      Company or name

      ・Permanent address
      Resident address

      If there are no problems with the information you have entered so far, click "Save and continue."

      ・Consent to electronic signature
      Select "Top" for electronic signatures, and "Bottom" for submission by mail.
      All that's left to do is select/enter some simple items and your tax-related information will be complete.

STEP5

  • Product Information Selection

    ・Tell us about your product categories
    Check the category you plan to list your item in and select "Finish."
    *If you haven't decided yet, you can skip by clicking "Skip for now" in the upper right.


Seller Authentication

The next step is to authenticate your account.

■Seller Central > Home page > Check "Apply" to the right of the "+" sign.


・Choose your country
Select Country(JAPAN)

・Provide contact information
Email address (required): Register the email address to receive communications from Amazon (Global Selling).
Phone number: Optional

・Submit required documents
Register image data (pdf, png, gif, jpg) of your identification document (driver's license, passport, etc.).

  • •The name on the certificate must match the name registered in Seller Central
  • It must be within the validity period.
  • Name / date of birth / place of residence registration or country of issuance of documents

Next, upload image data (pdf, png, gif, jpg) of your bank account or credit card statement.

  • The account holder name and address shown on your statement must match the name and address registered in Seller Central.
  • The statement must have been issued within the last 90 days
  • It is okay to hide the amount listed, but make sure your address, name, etc. are clearly visible.

This completes the registration for your US Amazon account.

If your application is not accepted

You will receive the following email. (You will also be notified by a red flag in Seller Central.)


Be sure to respond within 30 days

  • Copy of ID file
  • Another bank account or credit card statement

Resubmitting the above will restart the recertification process.

The registration process is basically the same as registering an account on Amazon Japan (amazon.co.jp).
